New Jersey Students and Employers: Save This Date for Disability Mentoring Day: October 21, 2009

Disability Mentoring Day (DMD) events have been connecting young people  with disabilities with career possibilities since Jonathan Young inaugurated the event "back in the day," during the Clinton Administration.  If you live in New Jersey, here's what you need to know about the DMD events that will be taking place close to home on Wednesday, October 21, 2009.  If you are an employer who wishes to welcome students with disabilities to your workplace, or a high school or college student who wants to learn more about New Jersey jobs that are attractive to someone with your skills, abilities, interests and talents, then you'll want to participate in this year's DMD events.

So far, DMD event sponsors include: Allies, Inc., PSE&G, BCN Telecom, Lawrence Toyota, All In One Basket, Bollinger Insurance and  the Law Offices of Maniaci, Ciccotta & Schweizer.

In New Jersey, your DMD coordinating state agency is Allies, Inc.

Disability Mentoring Day is a free event open to all students with Disabilities in the State of New Jersey.

My daughter is going to be a senior in high school.  She has learning disabilities.  This summer she got a job at an icecream store and after two weeks she was fired , because "it was too busy for her" per her employer.  My daughter is eager and willing to learn and perform for any employer, it just may take her alittle more time.  She , for the first time in her life, was excited and proud  to go to work everyday.  She was so devastated by this and feels that she can never be sucessful at anything.  Is there any way you can help her or maybe provide some information on how to help her get a job?  If not, thanks for listening.   Sincerely, Angie
