Hi. I have problems with finding a job,due to being a depressed diabetic with Aspbergers and a sleep disorder. I also have a very bad short term memory, low concentration, and have a hard time with math. I live in an area where most of the jobs are fast food and retail. I have worked a few of those jobs for a short time, but had been fired from 2 weeks to a month after getting hired. All the employers have told me that I am a hard worker, who shows up and does her best, but have to "let me go," because I don't move fast enough for their standards. I have worked with Vocational Rehabilitation and a job coach. I feel as if they haven't been much help as far as the employment part. The places I've worked at never offered me another position that might be better suited for,not even as dishwasher or other behind the scenes work. My SSD was cut off in March, after it was appealed because they considered me no longer disabled. I have appealed it and had the hearing, but I am waiting to hear somethings back from Social Security. Meanwhile, I am having a hard time paying my bills, paying a $3 copay for dr appointments and medications, and getting some of the things my kids need. I have applied for jobs that I think I might be able to handle, eventhough I feel it's a waste of time, since I don't get called back for an interview or if i do get the interview, the job goes to someone else. My boyfriend and family are tired of and aggervated with giving me money for my bills, after I've paid rent and a few other bills using child support.
Also, sometime next year my boyfriend is going to New Jersey because he got a promotion and I want to be able to to go with him and have more of an income than what I do now,if my appeal is denied.
I'm wanting to know if there are any jobs that might be good for me,something that doesn't require alot of math, and easy to do,with tasks that is easy to remember. Also I would like to know if there are any companies in North Carolina and New Jersey that would be more patient with me if they hired me.
while i don't know if i have much advice per se, i can definately relate. having asperger's syndrome myself, i too have gotten the working too slowly label. it's good that your past employers recognized that you were putting in the effort but it doesn't help that they let you go. i think people like us need to hone in on what few careers are not centered completely on speed.
Hi, this may be coming to you late, but I just signed up for this forum. Look under www.NTI.com. They specifically talor your jos to be AT HOME. The level of your disability will provide them with a job that suits you! I'm on my 3rd appeal of my SSDI, since March 06, when I fell 60 feet off a building. I have permanent spinal compression that keeps me up at night. It's midnight here. Also, look into Freelance.com. You can 'bid' on a job right at home!
NTI is slow in getting back to you, but if you can do simple typing or data entry/processing (trust me, these jobs are easy, but don't apply unless it's 100% scam free) Also, NEVER APPLY for an online job if they want a 'registration fee', these are scams.
I hope this finds you well & take care, d...
thanks, i will take a look and see what they have to offer. it's hard to find a work from home job that doesn't require a fee.
Just to let everyone know, NTI is legitimate, they are listed in our e-book we are promoting on our website, http://www.scarbroughexec.com.
HOWEVER, if you do not have a ticket to ride or currently enrolled in Vocational Rehabilitation, they cannot hire you.
I know this because I did apply with them, very pleasant experience, but I was not qualified since I was not receiving SSI benefits. If you would like other real listings of companies hiring contact me and I will gladly help.
I've tried looking up NTI, and get nothing even the link sends me to a page that does not really go anywhere. Is the ling broken or could their website have changed.
