It is important, especially in times like this, that you take all the steps that you can to sell yourself to prospective employers. Remember that the best way to improve your chances of being matched for a job opportunity on GettingHired.com is to have a complete profile posted. And please don’t forget that after you apply to a job opportunity using GettingHired.com you should follow up directly with the employer. Each employer’s hiring practices and response time will vary. You can find out more by visiting the employer’s career website. We also recommend that you contact the employer’s HR department directly to make sure they received your application and to learn of their review process.

I've applied to several job sites on line.  However, I can't follow up without a phone #.  Even harder when the employer is "Anonymous".  Any suggestions?

Unless the job posting contains some info that allows you to identify which company posted it (and thus allow you to research a phone #) , there is - unfortunately - not a thing you can do.  Don't give up :)
